Founder Spotlight: Tatter

This month, I’m highlighting Tatter, a textile-focused organization expanding into a museum (yes, a female-founded museum!). Fun fact: my amazing godmother is on the board, and I couldn’t be prouder.

Background:

Tatter is committed to weaving the threads of textile conversation into a vibrant tapestry of appreciation, study, exhibition, and preservation of textile arts. Their programming and library serve hundreds of artists, scholars, and designers each year.

Now, they’re embarking on an expansion at 230 Ashland Place in Brooklyn’s cultural district, creating a new flagship space for:

• Library materials and textile objects

• Public workshops, artist openings, and special events

• Expanded educational programming

This space will deepen their impact, improve accessibility, and foster stronger community connections through the unique ability of textiles to unite people.
